Official Google Voice iPhone app on the Way
Apple has approved Google's official Google Voice application for the iPhone. Although approved, Google appears to be holding back for now to add some multitasking capabilities to it. But should be in the app store within the next couple of weeks.
Chrome OS
Last week, I used the Google Chrome OS for the first time. Using Parallels on the Mac, it has an option to install the Chrome OS. What is Chrome OS? Well, it is a browser based OS, which makes sense cause the Chrome OS is based on internet use and not much else. If you want to live in the cloud, then Chrome OS you will like. That being said, there are some hangups, for instance it crashes on FarmVille, not once, but every time I tried it. It does come with several sites built in, for example Pandora if you want to listen to some tunes. Of course it includes Gmail and Google Docs as well as Hulu, Facebook, YouTube, and Chess. The OS itself is free but the hardware it will be installed on will range in price. Google does plan to have it installed on some net-books and other systems. I'm hoping to see some improvements with how it handles certain sites like FarmVille, but maybe Zynga will address that issue when FV goes to HTML5. Only time will tell. For now though, I'm going to stick with Mac OS X from a desktop point of use.
Well, that is going to do it for this edition of Googling Friday. See you all next week for another installment.
